Hundreds in Columbia lose power again Tuesday

An estimated 1,241 homes and customers lost power during hot and sticky temperatures Tuesday in southwest Columbia.

ABC 17 News viewers reported outages just before noon.

ABC 17 News confirmed with Columbia Water & Light that an insulator failed on an overhead line and burned an underground line located in a vault on Forum, near Green Meadows.

It covers the same area that experienced issues with its substation during the Fourth of July holiday weekend storms.

Columbia Water & Light believe there is no link between the power outages on Sunday and the one today, even though they are on the same circuit.

The power outage was roughly in the area of the Hinkson Creek Substation, near Green Meadows and Nifong, and area’s around Forum.
