MSHP searching for possible drowning victim

Troopers with the Missouri State Water Patrol are urging people to take it slow around the Twin Islands area at the Lake of the Ozarks after getting reports of a missing person.

They were searching the main channel over the weekend near the 8.5 mile marker, after finding an empty boat still running at 7:29 a.m Thursday. Dive teams searched the lake, but so far, have found nothing.

Investigators contacted the boat’s owner, who told troopers no one had permission to take it from the Bay Point Condominiums in Lake Ozark.

Troopers believe whoever took it could still be underwater.

The case remains under investigation, but officials are asking boaters to use caution because of the possible drowning victim.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop F Headquarters at 573-751-1000.
