Camden County deputies arrest sexual assault suspect from Oklahoma

Deputies in Camden County have arrested a man from Oklahoma wanted for sexual assault in the lake area.

A 15-year-old girl told her father and law enforcement she saw Glendale Earl Phares III outside her window in mid-June. She then said later that same day, Phares, who knows the victim and her family, came out of her closet and sexually assaulted her as she laid down for a nap.

On June 28, authorities say they learned where Phares was, and that he planned to flee for Oklahoma. Deputies found Phares on Ball Park Road in Camdenton and arrested him after a short foot chase. During that chase, deputies say Phares tried to swallow an unknown amount of methamphetamine.

Authorities took Phares to Lake Regional Hospital before moving him to the Camden County jail. Phares has been charged with rape, burglary, and child molestation. He is due in court August 2.
