Storms roll through mid-Missouri Monday night
Damaging storms rolled through mid-Missouri Monday night. The storms left thousands in the dark.
At one point, there were at least 342 outages in Columbia (for Water & Light customers), 480 in Hallsville, 480 in Harrisburg and 25 in Centralia. Ameren reported 384 customers were without power in Boone County.
Sturgeon not only lost power, but experienced flood damage as well.
Monroe County Sheriff David Hoffman confirmed with ABC 17 News that the county courthouse was struck by lightning. Communications and the 911 center were out as of 9:05 p.m. Monday , but they were operating via backup resources.
A tree was down on Highway Y earlier in the evening, half a mile north of Highway 22 in western Audrain County. It was removed before the night was through.
A tree also fell on a house in the 500 block of Robinson in Mexico. It has also been cleared, but affected power to the home.
The Moberly/Randolph Co. Office of Emergency Management told ABC 17 that trees were down, but none were blocking any roads.
Moberly Fire Station No. 2’s rubber layer of its roof was also damaged, but the roof still covered the station.
