Possible early morning shooting on Quail Drive

Columbia Police say they believe an early morning shooting on Quail Drive involved a BB gun.

Police say the call came in around 12:30 a.m. Friday about a person driving around shooting a BB gun from the car.

When police arrived they said they didn’t find any evidence of a shooting so they cleared the scene.

CPD says they are not sure if someone was being shot at or if the alleged shooter was just aiming randomly.

Quail drive is in the center of the neighborhood where Columbia Police are trying to reduce crime. They have started community outreach programs, planned community events in the area, and are in the works of planning a substation to reduce response times.

Since May 1, CPD has responded to Quail Drive for different types of calls at least 45 times.
