Boating season begins on Missouri lakes

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division has been out in full force over the holiday weekend.

The patrol says Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to the boating season on Missouri Lakes.

During the 2015 Memorial day weekend, the MSHP says there were eight boating crashes which included one injury. The patrol also says no one drowned during last year’s Memorial Day weekend, but the same cannot be said for the year before.

Wednesday will mark 2 years since the drowning death of 20-year-old Brandon Ellingson while he was in Water Patrol custody on the Lake of the Ozarks.
