Crash closes Route B for over two hours
Two people have been injured in a crash on Route B north of Columbia that closed the road for over two hours.
The crash happened around 8:30 Wednesday morning. Two cars were involved, and authorities on scene told ABC 17 News it was nearly a head-on collision.
Boone County Joint Communications sent an alert out saying Route B is shut down near Oakland Church Road. Our ABC 17 News crews on scene said officers have blocked the road about a mile back from the crash.
At least ten units, including Boone County Fire, Columbia Fire Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Columbia Police, responded to the scene.
Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Protection district told ABC 17 News both drivers were taken to University Hospital. The female driver had moderate injuries while the male driver had critical injuries.
We’re told the female driver of the SUV was out of the car when emergency crews arrived, although it’s unclear whether she was ejected. The male driver of the other car had to be extricated. A passenger in that car also refused medical treatment.
