Probation violator sentenced to 6 years in prison
A Fulton man was sentenced to six years in prison for unlawful possession of a concealable firearm as a convicted felon.
Chance Garriott had been on probation for the offense, but in February, was arrested with two other men for a Callaway County burglary.
Garriott admitted to violating probation today and the judge revoked it.
Garriott, along with Bradley Foutes, and Justin Thurston were all on probation and parole when they were arrested, according to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
On January 8, 2016, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigated a burglary in the 2700 block of County Road 183 after the owners of the business reported two ATV’s were stolen from an enclosed garage. Authorities found one of the ATV’s not far from the business. Through follow-up investigations the second ATV was located at a home in New Bloomfield.
On February 2, 2016, deputies executed a search warrant at a resident on County Road 326 where Garriott was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property regarding this investigation.
Garriott bonded out of jail and was rearrested on February 22nd after leading Fulton Police on a chase, almost hitting a Fulton Police Officer. Garriott refused to pull over for Fulton PD and eventually, police say his car had mechanical issues and was nonfunctional. Still refusing to surrender, police say they had to remove him from the vehicle and arrested him. He was charged in connection to the ATV burglary in addition to resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.
Deputies and investigators with Callaway County arrested Thurston and Foutes for second degree burglary and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle on February 11.
At the time of Garriott’s arrest he was on probation and parole for second degree assault, illegally possessing a gun, and distribution of a controlled substance in a corrections facility. Thurston was on probation and parole for second degree burglary, stealing a gun, and possession of a controlled substance. Foutes was on probation and parole for two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Thurston and Foutes were transferred to the Missouri Department of Corrections for violating their parole in February
