Caretaker of Lake propety identified; homicide investigation continues

As an investigation continues into a Lake of the Ozarks-area homicide, deputies have identified the man left to care for it.

Captain John Stephens of the Camden County Sheriff’s Office said Gregory B. Webb’s employer reported him missing on April 20. Deputies were called to the home Webb took care of and stayed at on Chapel Bluff Road on April 23, Stephens said, where they found a “deceased male” near the woods around the property. The Camden County Medical Examiner is still working to identify the man, while deputies have received help from the Major Case Squad to investigate the homicide.

The autopsy will help determine the cause of death, which has not yet been released by law enforcement. Stephens did not say that Webb was the person found dead near the woods.

The department asks anyone with information on either case to call the office at 573-346-2243, or the Missouri Information Analysis Center toll-free at 866-362-6422.
