Broadway Hotel owner looks to expand building

According to Broadway Hotel owner David Parmley, the new Broadway Hotel in downtown Columbia could be expanding soon.

Parmley said he’s working to find out if it makes financial sense to add another tower to the existing building.

He said it would be built on the north side of the building, toward Walnut.

If they do need to knock down any buildings, Parmley said they are drawing up the contract to buy the building next to the parking garage. He said they already lease space in it.

Parmley said the expansion could include about 80 more rooms, extra meeting space, and another ballroom on the top floor.

The buildings could be connected by an enclosed bridge.

Parmley said they’re hoping to submit plans to the city within the next six months.

The hotel opened two years ago near Broadway and College Avenue.
