Tuesday’s storms cause damage in Mid-Missouri

After what started off as a quiet morning, a large line of storms tracked through Mid-Missouri causing some disruptions in travel and causing damage. While the severe weather threat is over for now, reports of damage are coming in. Here’s the latest on the storm reports that have been confirmed.

– Wind Damage (10:28 AM)
Significant Wind Damage From The North Side Of Sedalia To Near The Sedalia Airport. A Roof Was Ripped Off A Business On The North Side Of Sedalia…4 Power Poles Were Snapped A Little Further East…Highway Signs Down At Us765 And Mo 765 And A Barn Down On Griessen Rd N Of The Airport. According To The Radar It Likely Occurred Between 1028 And 1035 Am

Remarks: Trees And Power Lines Down At 16Th And Barrett Street

-Hail (11:12 AM)
Location: Jamestown (Moniteau) Mo
Remarks: Quarter To Half Dollar Sized Hail.

-Wind Damage (11:13 AM)
Location: Versailles (Morgan) Mo
Remarks: Several Large Trees Down.

-Wind Damage (12:00 PM)
Location: Mexico (Audrain) Mo
Remarks: Telephone Lines Blown Down.

-Wind Damage (12:13 PM)
Location: Mokane (Callaway) Mo
Remarks: Powerlines Down… Siding Blown Off House… Numerous Trees Down

-Hail (12:45 PM)
Location: Bland (Gasconade) Mo
Magnitude: 1.75″

-Funnel Cloud Spotted (12:47 PM)
Location: Rosebud (Gasconade) Mo

-Wind Damage (12:55 PM)
Location: Bellflower (Montgomery) Mo
Remarks: Several Trees Blown Down…Between 15 And 25 Feet Tall.

While no storms are expected through the remainder of the afternoon into the early evening hours, our focus now shifts to overnight storms. Strong to severe storms are likely as a line of storms work their way out of Nebraska and Kansas. The main timing for these storms will be 11 PM – 6 AM. Stay weather aware through the overnight hours.
