Man hospitalized after he was shot in the face on Demaret Drive, no arrests yet

UPDATE: The Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirms a man was hospitalized for a gun shot wound to the face after a shooting on Demaret Drive Monday night.

Detective Tom O’Sullivan with the the Boone County Sheriff’s Departmentsaid deputies responded to the 700 block of Demaret Drive just before 10:00 Monday night.

O’Sullivan said a 33-year-old man told deputies he was standing outside an apartment building in the area when he heard gunshots and realized he had been struck in the face.

Someone apparently drove the victim to a local hospital where deputies say he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

O’Sullivan said deputies also found damage to a vehicle in the area.

Detective O’Sullivan said deputies have not made any arrests in the shooting. He said the Boone County Sheriff’s Department is working with other local law enforcement to see if this shooting is connected to any of the other two shooting reported in Columbia Monday.

O’Sullivan said deputies can not rule out a possible link between the shootings at this point.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to a possible shooting on Demaret Drive Monday night.

Deputies arrived just before 9 p.m. to investigate the scene. They searched a home and cars. They found a bullet hole in the window of one car. It was towed.

A resident on Demaret Drive confirmed she heard multiple gunshots.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department said it could not comment on the situation as of Monday night.
