Four taken to hospital after possible DWI crash in Jefferson City

Four people were recovering Tuesday after a possible DWI crash in Jefferson City.

It happened around 9:45 Monday night in the 500 block of East Dunklin Street.

Police said an investigation revealed that a 2005 Mercury Marquis was eastbound on East Dunklin St. when the driver lost control, crossed the road and struck a parked van on the north side of the road nearJackson Street.

No one was in the parked van at the time of the crash. Police saidthe van was spun around clockwise and struck a utility pole. This caused the utility pole to break.

Police said the driver and all three passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. They said none of the occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Police said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. No word on the victims conditions.
