Gov. Nixon appoints Jeff Harris to 13th Judicial Circuit

Governor Jay Nixon has appointed Columbia lawyer Jeff Harris as a circuit judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit, which covers Boone and Callaway Counties. Harris, who will take the place vacated when Judge Gary Oxenhandler retired, will be sworn in Monday.

Harris has been serving as policy director for Governor Nixon since 2009. Before that, he represented the 23rd District in the Missouri House of Representatives. During that time, Harris served as House Minority Leader and House Minority Whip.

Harris, a native of Columbia, has also worked with the Atwill and Montgomery law firm in Columbia, the Bryan Cave law firm in Kansas City, and headed the state attorney general’s Governmental Entities Unit.
