Above Average Temperatures To Start Next Week, Below Average Temperatures to End It
After the system that has brought, and will continue to bring, on and off showers through the weekend, southerly flow will return as a temporary ridge of high pressure builds into the region for the start of the work week. This will result in temperatures warming to about 20 degrees above average, with highs in the lower to mid 70s on Monday and Tuesday.
A cold front is expected to budge its way eastward through Mid-Missouri Tuesday into Wednesday morning, which will result in an initial ten degree drop in temperatures. Highs on Wednesday will be in the mid 60s and continue to drop off from there, eventually reaching to levels that are slightly below average by next Saturday.
Beyond next week and into the extended forecast period, cooler temperatures are expected to remain in place, with models dropping temperatures to below freezing two weeks from now. These cooler temperatures may be harmful to plants that have already started to bloom. It appears as though Winter isn’t ready to let go quite yet!
