Demolition starting for new Ninth Street housing complex

It will be the end of an era Monday morning, when demolition is scheduled to start on part of a downtown Columbia block.

The lot includes a now-empty apartment building, Quinton’s bar and Britches clothing store.

Sidewalks and lanes will be blocked for the work. The new property owner off Ninth Street is preparing for a ten-story apartment building, with retail space planned for the first floor and parking on the second.
