Traffic Alert: Construction begins on pedestrian bridge over Hinkson creek

UPDATE: The construction company, Lehman Construction, tells ABC 17 News that light work, such as putting up signs, will begin on Tuesday. They say the bulk of the work will begin on Monday, Feb. 7.

Crews will begin construction on a pedestrian bridge over Hinkson creek at 7 Tuesday morning.

The bridge will be located in West Columbia on Forum Boulevard near the Wilson’s Fitness.

Columbia Public Works has announced the project may cause some temporary lane restrictions on Forum Boulevard. They have not yet announced what those restrictions will be, or when they might happen.

The location where the bridge will be built is also near the MKT trail. It’s a popular area for pedestrians, but there is currently no walkway for pedestrians across the bridge.
