Man files lawsuit in son’s handcuffed drowning at Lake of the Ozarks

Almost two years after Brandon Ellingson died while he was handcuffed in a trooper’s custody at the Lake of the Ozarks, now his father is going before a judge, trying to find out more details about why his son died.

Craig Ellingson filed a lawsuit against the custodian of records for the patrol alleging a breach of Missouri’s sunshine law.

The suit claims the highway patrol withheld findings from Brandon Ellingson’s death investigation after months of requests went unmet.

Both sides went before a Cole County judge to make their arguments on Monday .
