Snow causing traffic problems across Mid-Missouri

A little more than half an inch of snow has fallen in Columbia as of 11:30 Wednesday morning.

The Columbia/Boone County Public Safety Joint Communications tells ABC 17 News they’ve responded to 10 to 15 accidents since 9:30 a.m.

MoDOT’s Randy Aulbur says they have full crews in Boone and Cole Counties. He also says I-70 and Highway 63 are snow covered.

Steve Sapp with the City of Columbia Public Works says they have 27 trucks working on snow removal.

Britt Smith with the Jefferson City Public Works says they have a full crew out working the roads. The 22 plows are focusing on priority roads.

Boone County Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill says they also have their plows out. Because the snow moved in earlier than expected, their crews had to start earlier as well.
