Cold work week, blast of arctic air Friday night.
Winter-like temperatures have arrived and will stick around this week. Arctic air is settling over the area and will drop temperatures into the teens by Tuesday morning. The gusty northwesterly winds will generate wind chills of 0 to 8 to start the day to make for a bitterly cold morning at the bus stop or for your way to work. Afternoon temperatures don’t warm much, only reaching the upper 20s to lower 30s with an icy northwesterly wind.
We’ll have another bitterly cold start Wednesday as temperatures fall to near 10 by daybreak with wind chill readings near zero due to the northwest breeze. Afternoon temperatures will stay mainly in the upper 20s again Wednesday with pockets of sunshine.
The cold air will start to shift to the east Thursday and Friday and temperatures will warm into the 30s Thursday and near 40 Friday. The warming won’t last long. Another surge of arctic air moves in Friday night, dropping temperatures into the teens with wind chills near zero to start the day Saturday with high temperatures only reaching the low 20s.
