Mild weekend before Monday cold blast

Mild weather is in store for the weekend, with high temperatures reaching the upper 40s as warmer, southerly flow tries to build in for a few days.

An Alberta clipper system will dive in from Canada Sunday, bringing a cold front in by afternoon.

At this time, no precipitation is expected on Sunday, but more clouds will move in by afternoon. Northerly winds will usher in colder temperatures by evening, falling into the low 20s.

A few light snow showers rotating around the back side of low pressure could move into Mid-Missouri late Sunday night into Monday, with the best chance of snowfall east of Highway 63 through early Monday afternoon.

Very little, if any accumulation is expected. Areas that do see snow showers could pick up a dusting to 1/2.”

Temperatures don’t rebound much on Monday and Tuesday, with highs only reaching the upper 20s to low 30s.
