Man heading to prison for child sex charges
Steven Walker, 22, was sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty Wednesday to first-degree statutory sodomy as part of a deal with Miller County officials.
Walker was first accused of having sex with a 4 year-old, after daycare told the sheriff’s department about the abuse. Charges were formally filed in December 2013.
Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Winfrey asked for the maximum penalty this week to prevent more children from being abused. Walker has to serve at least 85% of his sentence, or 17 years, before he is eligible for parole.
