City Council to vote on land for new Columbia police station

The Columbia City Council will vote Monday night on whether to buy a piece of land for a second police station.

The city is looking at an 8.5 acre piece of land at Rangeline and International Drive for a possible new police and fire substation.

This new station would not replace the downtown location.

Purchasing the land would cost the city about $1.5 million.

The total estimated cost of the entire building project is expected to be more than $8 million.
