Quick weather changes through the weekend

Milder air moves in Wednesday and Thursday ahead of our next storm system which will bring scattered light showers to Mid-Missouri Thursday night through early Friday. Temperatures will climb into the 40s Wednesday and 50s Thursday under mostly sunny skies.

The warm-up won’t last long. Another blast of arctic air will dive in behind the next storm system as it tracks across Missouri Friday morning, causing temperatures to fall through the day. Also, light showers will develop as early as 10 PM Thursday near HWY 65 in western Missouri and spread to the east through Friday morning, ending by noon. Rain amounts will be light, with most areas only getting a tenth of an inch of rain or less.

Due to the fast movement of the low pressure system, the rain will move east before the cold air moves in and snow looks unlikely.

High temperatures this weekend will only touch near 30 Saturday and the lower 20s Sunday as the bitterly cold air settles in. Another fast moving wave of low pressure will move in from the west Sunday night, bringing a chance of light snow through early Monday morning. Light accumulation is possible but can’t be determined until we get closer to the weekend. Please check back for updates.
