NFL owners approve Rams’ move to Los Angeles

NFL Football is back in Los Angeles. But it was at the expense of St. Louis sports fans.

NFL owners approved a plan to allow the St. Louis Rams to move to Los Angeles, according to multiple media reports. The team will play in Los Angeles starting in the 2016 season.

The Los Angeles Times reports the owners approved the move 30-2.

The Rams are owned by Columbia resident Stan Kroenke. Reports say Kroenke was adamant about moving the team to Los Angeles. The franchise says it is within the team’s contractual right to move because St. Louis does not have a “first-tier” stadium.

The league’s owners also voted to allow the San Diego Chargers to join the Rams in the proposed-Inglewood, CA stadium starting in 2017, should the Chargers opt to move.
