Nearly 500 tickets issued in Jefferson City “Drive Sober” campaign

Jefferson City Police reported Wednesday that nearly 500 citations were issued during its participation in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

The enforcement took place between December 18 and January 3. During that time, 481 tickets were issued.

Here’s breakdown of the citations that were issued by JCPD:

10 for Driving While Intoxicated

2 for Driving While Drugged

11 for following too close

2 stop sign violations

10 signal light violations

20 fail to yield the right of way violations

7 careless and imprudent violations

93 for speeding

42 for adult seat belt violations

5 for child restraints

2 Minor in Possession violations

34 Driving While Suspended / Driving While Revoked

19 Driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license

107 No Insurance

117 for other hazardous moving violations, defective vehicle equipment and improper registration

JCPD said DWI is one of the leading causes of deadly crashes in Missouri. 197 people were killed in DWI crashes in 2014.
