Car shot during Christmas day argument at Columbia liquor store

Columbia police responded to shooting outside a liquor store on the northeast side of town Friday afternoon. ABC 17 News confirmed the suspect fired at a car with three people inside, hitting one of the tires.

Sgt. Mike Youtsey said the department received the call at 11:50 a.m. for shots heard. Officers found shell casings on the scene of Arena Liquor, at the corner of Ballenger Lane and Rice Road.

Sgt. Youtsey said two men standing outside the store began arguing with three men who pulled into the lot to shop that afternoon. When the three people began leaving, Sgt. Youtsey said one of the men standing outside shot at the car. While no one was physically injured, Sgt. Youtsey said a bullet flattened a tire.

Sgt. Youtsey said the department did not have much suspect description, other than two men with average height and wearing black clothing.
