Thanksgiving fire destroys three homes in Sedalia; cause unknown

The Sedalia Fire Department is investigating what started a fire Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of West Fourth Street that destroyed three homes.

As of Friday, fire officials told ABC 17 the cause of the fire is considered undetermined. They say is is unlikely a cause will ever be determined due to the extent of the damage. The homes are considered a total loss.

A fourth home in the area experienced moderate damage.

Fire officials were able to determine where in the first home the fire originally started.

Nearly 50 fire fighters were on scene battling the fire for about seven hours. No residents were injured, but two firefighters were treated for minor injuries on scene.

The fire department was assisted by the Pettis County Fire Department.
