Heavy rain could lead to flooding Thu- Fri

A slow moving cold front will send a band of moderate rain through Mid-Missouri Thursday evening through Friday morning. Rain will increase after 5 PM Thursday spreading southeast across the area through the night with pockets of heavy rain likely. The heaviest band of rain will shift to near I-44 by daybreak Friday but light rain will continue on and off through the morning. Another wave of moderate rain is expected to spread over the area Friday afternoon through the evening, tapering off overnight.

Rainfall amounts of 1.5″ to 4 ” are possible through Saturday with highest amounts south. A Flood Watch and Flash Flood Watch have been issued from 6 PM Thursday through 6 AM Saturday with the Flash Flood Watch for the Ozarks where the highest amount of rain is expected.

Flooding of small streams and creeks is expected and larger rivers will also experience rises and possibly even flood in some areas. Many low water crossings may become impassable along with low lying roadways that typically experience flooding.
