Free meals Thanksgiving meals available

Free meals will be available for Thanksgiving on Thursday across Mid-Missouri.

The late Almeta Crayton’s community program “Everybody Eats” will serve more than 500 people on Thanksgiving Day.

Last year, the volunteers with the program roasted 68 turkeys and five hams.

Volunteers will serve food from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stamper Commons on the Stevens College campus.

The Salvation Army in Columbia will also serve a meal at the Harbor House on Ann Street near old Highway 63.

It was held for the last 5 years at Lee’s Chicken off Paris Road.

The group is asking for dessert donations.

American Legion Post 202 in Columbia will host a Thanksgiving dinner from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. that is free and open to the public.
