Southern Mid-Missouri Counties Put Under Flash Flood Watch for Monday and Tuesday.
On Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for the counties of Camden, Miller, Morgan, Phelps, Pulaski, and Maries counties. This will be in effect starting Monday at 6AM and last through all of Tuesday, ending at 12AM on Wednesday.
The issuing of this watch comes as a result of the excessive rainfall that is expected to batter Mid-Missouri starting Sunday night and continue into Tuesday afternoon and evening.
This rain is expected to come in waves. The first wave will arrive late Sunday night. While a decent amount of rain is expected from this first wave, the heavier rain will come with the second wave that is expected to push into our region Monday night into Tuesday along a frontal boundary. Ample amounts of moisture will filter into the region from the Gulf of Mexico just ahead of this front, allowing for production of heavy rain and possible flooding near the Ozarks.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions that lead to flash flooding may develop. This situation will be carefully monitored throughout the next 48 hours.
