Warming weekend, possible heavy rain next week

Winds will shift to the southwest Friday night, sending milder air into Mid-Missouri for the weekend as high temperatures reach into the lower 60s. Most of the weekend will be dry but clouds will increase Sunday as a storm system approaches from the southwest.

Rain will increase from west to east Sunday night as an upper level disturbance moves in from the southwest, ahead of the main storm system. Rain is expected to spread over the area through the morning Monday, tapering off by evening. Rainfall amounts of a half inch north of I-70 to an inch and a half near I-44 are possible through 7pm Monday.

A band of heavy rain is expected to move in from the south, just ahead of the surface low pressure area as it moves across the Central Plains. Showers and t-storms will move in late Monday night through Tuesday, bringing another 1-2 inches of rain, ending overnight Tuesday. Rainfall totals from Sunday night through Tuesday are expected to come in at 1-3 inches with highest totals southeast.
