Storms bring strong winds to Mid-Missouri

A strong storm system moving to our north sent a trailing cold front through Mid-Missouri Wednesday afternoon. Storms formed ahead of the front and quickly moved through from 3 to 6 PM.

By 4 PM, a large portion of Mid-Missouri from just south of Boonville to near Macon was under Severe Storm Warnings for the possibility of damaging winds.

We received reports of wind damage and power outages from Sumner at 3:06 PM and from Mendon at 3:24 PM. Brunswick reported 72 mph wind gusts at 3:20 PM. Other reports of wind damage came in from Salisbury at 3:42 PM, 3 miles south of Wien at 3:30 and 3 miles southeast of Elmer at 4:12 PM. A report of 58 mph winds came in at 4:13 from Atlanta with wind damage reported in Macon at 4:12 PM.
