Work starts at 4 a.m. on Scott Blvd. in south Columbia

The city of Columbia confirmed Tuesday that construction will start early Wednesday morning on Scott Boulevard.

Workers will be out sawing and installing concrete at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday near the Thornbrook neighborhood.

They think the head start will help them finish faster, instead of stretching out the work for more than a week.

If progress is made, the work should only last one day.

Right now, the road is closed south of Vawter School for the final phase of the project.

The work will create wider lanes to add space for bikes, and add a left hand turn lane.

The road is expected to open by spring, and will be completely finished by next summer.
