Preliminary autopsy results released for man found dead in Morgan County trailer

Stover authorities released the autopsy results Friday for a man found dead in a mobile home Thursday.

On Friday officials identified the man found dead in a mid-Missouri trailer as James Dennis Conner, 58, from Stover, about an hour southwest of Jefferson City.

Experts also performed an autopsy Friday. The preliminary results found no defensive wounds and no injuries that would cause Connor’s death.

The medical examiner apparently found signs indicating a natural cause death. However, toxicology reports are pending.

On Thursday evening, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department had changed the case from a homicide to a death investigation.

Morgan County authorities thought foul play could be involved, after finding signs of a struggle. New information has come to light that may suggest otherwise.

Sheriff Jim Petty said a relative of the victim told the department the man may have damaged his home earlier.

Sheriff Petty confirmed the man was found dead Thursday afternoon by his landlord, who had not heard from him in a while. He says the body was found inside his mobile home on Second Street. Officials are not releasing his name right now.Sheriff Petty tells ABC 17 News the mini Major Case Squad has been called to assist Stover police and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said the case is still considered suspicious and will be left open pending toxicology reports and interviews of family members.

The Stover Police Department said it believes this is more than likely a natural cause death but will continue with its investigation.
