Cole Co. Sheriff’s Department warns of recent phone scam
The Cole County Sheriff’s Department has recently gotten multiple reports of a phone scam.
Multiple people have reported getting a call from a man claiming to be someone named Deputy Michael Jackson, according to Capt. John Wheeler.
The man told the complainants they missed jury duty and need to send a money gram, Wheeler said.
The scammer is calling from a Cole County number.
If you get a suspicious call, Wheeler said you should contact the Cole County Sheriff’s Department or the agency where the caller claims to work.
