Violent crime statistics in Columbia for 2015
After a recent rash of violent crime in Columbia, ABC 17 News looked at the crime statistics for 2015 so far.
The Uniform Crime Report is broken down by category of violent crime.
From January up to August for 2015, there were 226 aggravated assaults. There were 226 total aggravated assaults for the entire 2014 year.
In the same time frame, there has been one homicide, versus five homicides for the year 2014.
The city was up to 57 rapes in August. Columbia had 63 rapes total in 2014.
There have been 89 robberies this year between January and August. There were 116 total robberies in 2014.
In 2014, there were 410 violent crimes. And as of August, Columbia has had 373 violent crimes.
The numbers for September and October for this year are not available yet.
