Update: Man charged in connection with armed home invasion in Columbia

A Columbia man has been charged in connection with an armed home invasion Tuesday night on Parkside and Creasy Springs Road in northern Columbia.

Authorities said Isaiah Dwight Anderson, 19, and a second man, forcefully entered the home and used guns to threaten the five people inside.

Anderson hit one male victim on the head with a gun and they fought, police said.

The victim was able to identify Anderson when police arrived.

Eight to 10 police units, a K-9 unit and a medical unit responded to the scene at about 8 p.m.

Police told ABC 17 News that the homeowners were able to detain one of the intruders, Anderson, who allegedly broke into the home with a gun.

The other male intruder was able to escape.

Police said they arrested Anderson at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said they found marijuana and a metal pipe in Anderson’s pocket at the time of the arrest.

Officers said the firearm that Anderson used was stolen and that Anderson is also a convicted felon.

No shots were fired, but the male victim suffered swelling, cuts and bruises from his fight with Anderson.

Anderson has been charged with first degree attempted robbery, first degree burglary, armed criminal action and receiving stolen property.

He is currently in the Boone County Jail with a $100,000 bond.

The second intruder has not yet been identified or caught.
