Columbia considering bringing back red light cameras

Columbia city officials are considering bringing back red light cameras.

The cameras have not been enforced since 2013 following a decision by the Supreme Court against red light camera ordinances.

In August, the Supreme Court ruled against some of those ordinances, clearing the way for Mid-Missouri cities to resume red light camera programs.

Columbia city leaders said they will present an outline of a new program to the city council in the next 4 to 5 weeks.
