Hearing continued for Highway Patrol corporal

A hearing for a Highway Patrol trooper who claims he unfairly punished for taking a stand against the MSHP has been set back.

The hearing was scheduled for this coming Monday but was continued due to the lack of time to complete discovery in the case and resolve legal issues.

Corporal Randy Henry took a stand against the department’s handling of the Brandon Ellingson drowning case.

Ellingson drowned while in Highway Patrol custody at the Lake of the Ozarks in 2014.

Henry was demoted to corporal and was forced to move from the Lake of the Ozarks to the Truman Lake area after nearly 30 years serving the department.

A new hearing date has not yet been set.
