Water break creates boil advisory, water outage for some Boone County residents

A boil advisory is in place in Columbia after parts of Boone County experienced a water outage Friday morning.

The boil order is in effect for those that live south of Maupin Lane.

It comes after a water break in Boone County Water District 9 caused the outage.

Officials at Public Water Supply 9 told ABC 17 News water pressure might still be low for some residents.

The water break happened off Demaret Drive.

Public Water Supply 9 was alerted to the break early Friday morning. They had difficulty locating the break because of trees.

The following areas could have low water pressure for the next couple hours:
– South of Maupin Lane
– Route Z
– St. Charles Road
– Route WW
– Rangeline Road
– Richland Road

Officials are not yet sure what caused the break, but believe it was likely an accident.
