Woman led away in handcuffs after incident at south Columbia apartment complex

One woman was led away in handcuffs after an incident at a south Columbia apartment complex.

It happened at the Gateway at Columbia apartment complex just before 4 p.m. Tuesday on Buttonwood Drive.

A Columbia police sergeant tell ABC 17 News someone called and reported multiple people in an apartment armed with knives and guns.

The sergeant says they sent several units to the scene because they believed someone was in imminent danger. Our crews on the scene also saw a K-9 unit.

Neighbors say they saw police in tactical gear bust down the door of an apartment.

One woman was later taken into custody in handcuffs.

A Sergeant who was on the scene told ABC 17 News they got conflicting stories after interviewing several people on the scene, including the caller.

Police said they don’t have any evidence to prove the incident happened, but they also said they can’t prove that it didn’t happen.

The woman in handcuffs was taken to the hospital at her request.

Police said no arrests have been made.
