MU track athlete suspended, accused of abusing dog

The University of Missouri has confirmed a member of the men’s track & field team is suspended indefinitely.

21-year-old Tony Carodine is accused of hitting a small dog in the head multiple times on Thursday night.

Carodine allegedly picked the dog up by its neck, causing it to squeal, then threw it on the ground.

Carodine was arrested for misdemeanor animal abuse and bonded out of the Boone County Jail Friday.

A spokesperson with the MU track and field team said they are aware of his arrest and had no further comment.
