Commission selects new Boone Co. 911 director, emergency management director

The Boone County Commission announced Wednesday that Chad Martin, a captain with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department will take over as the new 911 director and Terry Cassil has been selected as the new Boone County Emergency Management Director.

Cassil is currently the chief of operations for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency. He also worked for the Columbia Fire Department for 21 years before retiring as assistant chief in March of last year.

Martin has worked for the sheriff’s department for 19 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Southern Boone County Fire Protection District.

The announcement comes after Scott Shelton stepped down as 911 director in June after spending less than six months on the job.

Boone County Sheriff Dwayne Carey has been serving as interim Joint Communications director.
