One injured in Columbia home invasion

Columbia Police are investigating a home invasion that happened in the 1700 block of Stanford Drive early Saturday morning.

Police arrived to the home just after 3 o’clock in the morning. Officers found the front door was kicked open.

Three people were inside sleeping at the time of the break in.

Police say two male suspects entered the home and demanded money from a 18-year-old male resident.

One suspect had a gun and hit the 18-year-old with the weapon causing injuries to his face. The suspects left the home without taking any property.

The two other residents, a 50-year-old woman and 93-year-old man were not injured. The young man was transported to the hospital for his injuries.

The two suspects are described as black males, one possibly being mixed race. Anyone with information regarding the home invasion is asked to contact CPD or call CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
