Boone Co. search and rescue crews find missing fisherman on Missouri River

Boone County Search and Rescue crews have found a missing Columbia fisherman on the Missouri River near Perche Creek.

Crews tell ABC 17 News the man ran out of gas. The man was not injured.

The search began around 9:15 p.m. and lasted about an hour.

The Boone County Fire Protection District said it had a boat on the Missouri River at Providence Landing and a second boat in the water at Katfish Katy’s in Huntsdale. Several other boats were on standby.

The man asked asked a friend to check fishing lines in the area Sunday night and did not show up to work Monday, Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Protection District said.

“A mile upstream he had run out of gas,” Blomenkamp said. “He was tied off to shore and he was fishing at the time, somebody had brought him some gas so he is now in good shape and did not need any assistance from the fire district.”
