Saturday Night’s Severe Storm Threat

As a cold front descends from the northwest, a line of severe storms is expected to develop along the frontal boundary. This line is expected to reach mid-Missouri after midnight tonight. As it pushes southeastward towards central Missouri, the storms should start to weaken.

Having said that, our viewing area is still at risk for severe weather. Our eastern counties are under a marginal risk, while our most western counties including Saline, Pettis, Benton, and Johnson counties, are under a slight risk.

While all modes of severe weather are possible, the main concern for tonight will be damaging winds and large hail.

There is some good news. After these storms clear out of our region by Sunday afternoon, clear skies, drier conditions, and cooler temperatures will be left in its wake. Looks like we might get a little taste of fall in August!
