Downed power lines block road after truck crashes into utility pole

A portion of Business Loop 70 East was temporarily shut down Saturday after fallen power lines block traffic.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m., Columbia firefighters responded to 4 Business Loop 70 East. A box truck hit a utility pole bringing down two poles and power lines between Garth and Indiana Avenues, according to Boone County Joint Communications.

Columbia Water and Light crews were on scene for several hours repairing the damage.

No power outages were reported, according to Columbia Water and Light’s website.
