Football forecast & weekend storm chances

For the start of the high school football season the weather looks great. Temperatures will start off warm at the start of the games with mostly clear skies, a mild evening and a light southerly breeze.

Warm, moist air will move in from the southwest late Friday night as a wave of low pressure aloft tracks across the area. This could trigger a few showers or t-storms from late Friday night through noon Saturday. The best chance is south of I-70 but a spot shower or t-storm can’t be ruled out farther north.

A cold front will approach from the northwest Saturday night and send a line of showers and t-storms into Mid-Missouri overnight Saturday through early Sunday. These storms are expected to enter our northwestern counties after 10 PM and slide to the southeast overnight. Some strong storms are possible as they move in but as the night progresses, storms will weaken as they move south.
