Man dies at Lake of the Ozarks after getting hit by wake

A California man died at the Lake of the Ozarks after getting hit by a wake Saturday.

It happened at 1:48 p.m. at the 1 MM of the Gravois Arm, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Raymond Duff, 52, of Winnetka, California jumped off a pontoon into the water near the shoreline. A wake struck Duff resulting in a medical emergency, according to the highway patrol.

Emergency crews took Duff to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Duff was not wearing a safety device.
